The status bar is the bar at the bottom of the Excel window. It can help you do quick calculations and check useful information without using formulas.

1. Quick Calculations with the Status Bar
- Select cells A1 to A3.

- Look at the bottom of the Excel window.

You will see:
- Average – the average value of the selected cells
- Count – how many cells contain numbers
- Sum – the total of the selected numbers
Excel does these calculations automatically for you.
2. Change Workbook View Easily
On the right side of the status bar, there are three view buttons:

- Normal View
- Page Layout View
- Page Break Preview
Click any button to change how your worksheet looks.
3. Zoom In or Out
Next to the view buttons, you will see a zoom slider.

- Drag it left to zoom out
- Drag it right to zoom in
This helps you see more or less of your worksheet quickly.
4. Customize the Status Bar
You can choose what information appears on the status bar.
- Right-click the status bar.
- A list of options will appear.
- Click Caps Lock, Minimum, or any option you want to show.

✔ A check mark means the option is active.
5. Example: Show Minimum Value
- Right-click the status bar.
- Click Minimum

- Select cells A1 to A3.

Now the status bar shows:

- Average
- Count
- Minimum
- Sum
6. Other Useful Status Bar Messages
Excel also uses the status bar to show extra information, such as:
- Number of visible rows when a table is filtered

- The author’s name when you hover over a comment

This information appears automatically when needed.
7. For Advanced Users (Optional)
- Press Ctrl + Shift + F1 (Excel 2016) to hide the ribbon and status bar.
- VBA users can hide the status bar with this code:
Application.DisplayStatusBar = False
Beginners can safely skip this part.
